Hello Hello!  Alight is recruiting  Livelihoods Volunteer for our programs in Uganda to be based at  Nakivale, Rwamwanja, Kyaka II and Kyangwali field offices (10 positions). You’re interested in joining us? Welcome, we’re happy you’re here!

The Livelihood Volunteer will be responsible for Providing trainings to farmers’ groups on good agronomic practices, climate smart agriculture and marketing, Monitoring of VSLA groups and capture all the relevant data, Oversee the use of materials provided to beneficiaries & ensure via frequent field visits the proper use of agriculture inputs & other material support items like start up kits by the beneficiaries.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • With support from Livelihoods Assistant, support beneficiary mobilization, registration, and verification.
  • Sensitize and raise awareness for project activities.
  • Train producer groups in best agronomic practices and financial literacy with support from Livelihoods Assistant.
  • Monitor participating farmer enterprises as well as VSLA groups. 
  • Support in data collection with support from the Livelihoods Assistant.
  • Work with the Livelihoods Assistant to provide accurate and timely activity reports.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a Certificate or a Diploma in Agriculture, Agribusiness & Community development
  • Basic knowledge in Livelihoods & Food security interventions is desirable.
  • At least 1 year’s work experience in Agriculture.
  • Experience in Farmer Field School approach
  • In addition to written and spoken English, must be fluent in Local Languages (Kinyarwanda, Kiswahili, Runyakitara)
  • Motorbike riding experience and permit preferable.
